The back is formed from two pieces of quarter-cut maple, marked by beautiful narrow-width flame that slants downward from the center joint. The wood of the ribs and scroll is similar to that of the back. The two-piece spruce top has straight, medium-narrow, even grain.
The instrument is covered with a warm golden orange varnish over a light gold ground. It is attractively antiqued and shaded by the maker. The violin is in new condition.
