This violin has an even and gorgeous tone across registers, maintaining its power throughout without sacrificing the potential for refined nuance. Its single-piece back has a unique flaming figure, brought out by a lovely golden-brown varnish. The scroll and ribs bear similar flames.

About the Maker
Stefano Trabucchi (1970- ) was born in Sondrio, Italy and began studying the violin at eight years old. When he was fourteen, he began attending the Stradivari Institution of Violinmaking in Cremona, working with master luthiers Massimo Negroni and Stefano Conia. A kind of wunderkind, Trabucchi graduated with honors in 1988 and began to apprentice at Marco Nolli’s workshop. In 1992, at only twenty-two years old, Trabucchi opened his own atelier in Cremona’s historic center, drawing upon the ancient traditions of the luthier city, cultivating original plans and models for his instruments. Along with his particular attention for wood selections, Trabucchi’s trademark work includes incorporating gold and jewel embellishments to his instruments. He has earned an array of international prizes, including the Triennale of Cremona Prize. Trabucchi has held many public positions for luthiers and artisans, including President of the Violinmakers’ of Cremona group, President of Confartigianato Imprese Cremona, board member of Consorzio liutai A. Stradivari, among others.
