Darryn Smalley is a violin maker living and working in Humboldt County, CA. Before violins he made
traditional Native American wooden bows and lived in Czechia. While bow making he became exposed to
and interested in violin making. He returned to the US to attend the Violin Making School of American in
Salt Lake City in 2016. He studied under Aubrey Alexander at the VMSA and graduated in 2018. He
served an apprenticeship at Jordan Hess Violins. He received Certificate for Tone Violin at the latest
Violin Society of American International Competition.
